Virginia Tech Nano Camp

The College of Science at Virginia Tech is hosting a Nano Camp for rising 9th through 12th graders.
The cost of the camp is $250 (with assistance available) for the three-day, two-night camp which includes all meals and snacks, a t-shirt, supplies for all activities, a backpack, water bottle, and molecule kit.

University of Virginia – Saturday and Summer Enrichment Program
The Center for Gifted Education at The University of Virginia offers Saturday and Summer Enrichment Programs (SEP) for students.  SEP is an academically challenging program with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning for students enrolled in grades K–9. It is not meant to supplant the regular school curriculum; rather, it recognizes the importance of allowing able students to explore additional specialized areas of science, mathematics, humanities, and the arts.

William and Mary Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
An exciting enrichment opportunity that will expand horizons! This program targets gifted students grades 1-5.

Students will have the opportunity to:

Saturday Enrichment Program at the College of William and Mary
The Center for Gifted Education provides unique opportunities for high ability students to attend Saturday and Summer enrichment courses on the campus of The College of William and Mary. The Saturday and Summer Programs courses are targeted for students currently in Kindergarten through Grade 9. The programs recognize the importance of allowing able youngsters to explore specialized areas of science, mathematics, and the arts and humanities. The program does not take the place of the regular school curriculum. Behaviors fostered by the enrichment program include students' abilities to apply process skills used in individual fields of inquiry, to recognize problems and approaches to problem-solving, to understand and appreciate individual differences, and to become self-directed learners.

Focusing on the Future Conference at William & Mary
February 2, 2019
The Center for Gifted Education's 2016 Focusing on the Future conference will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 8:45 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

The event will expose high-ability learners in grades 6–12 to career opportunities in various professional fields. Separate sessions will be held for parents, guardians, and counselors, and will provide them with strategies and techniques to assist students with academic and career planning.

The event will be held at The College of William & Mary’s School of Education, located at 301 Monticello Avenue, Williamsburg, VA 23185. All students must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or group chaperone. All participants must register for the event. The deadline to register is January 16, 2016.

Virtual Virginia 3-5 Summer Enrichment Camp
Virtual Virginia (VVA) will launch the 3–5 Elementary Summer Enrichment Program, offering Virginia public school divisions, schools, and learners high-quality synchronous and asynchronous enrichment instruction in grades 3–5 throughout the summer (40 instructional days).

Through this program, VVA will provide the asynchronous enrichment content and synchronous instruction via the VVA learning management system (LMS). Students will participate in instructional activities in Mathematics, Reading, Language Arts, and STEM.

The 3–5 Elementary Summer Enrichment Program is open to all learners in grades 3–5 and may be especially appealing to students who are new to online learning or will be enrolled in online instruction through VVA for the 2021–2022 school year.

Virtual Virginia will offer two sections of this program to accommodate varying school schedules and end dates across the Commonwealth:

  • Section A: VVA Online Summer Camp
    June 1–29 (20 days)
  • Section B: VVA Online Summer Olympics
    June 30—July 28 (20 days)

Enrollment in the program will open Monday, May 3.

The enrollment fee for the 3–5 Elementary Summer Enrichment Program is $75 per student, per section (either A or B). A student may enroll in both sections. Rising grade-level students or recent grade-level completers may enroll.

Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS)

The Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (VASTS) program is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning experience, highlighted by a seven-day residential summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. Students selected to participate in the program are immersed in NASA-related research through interaction with scientists, engineers and technologists. The program is a partnership between the Virginia Space Grant Consortium and NASA Langley Research Center with assistance from theVirginia Department of Education.

Imagination Camp at Virginia Tech
Rising 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend a one week non-residential day camp at Virginia Tech. Imagination is a hands-on exploration of engineering led by faculty, graduate and undergraduate students. Campers can attend one of two weeks during the summer. The cost of the camp is $125 and includes all activity participation and lunch. There are financial need scholarships available. For more information about the camp go to our website at;

C-Tech2 at Virginia Tech
Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering invites rising high school junior and senior female students to participate in C-Tech2 - Computers and Technology at Virginia Tech. A primary focus of the program is to help develop and sustain the interests of women in engineering. Participants will spend the majority of their time involved in hands-on activities designed to increase interest in and knowledge of applications of engineering, math, and science to real world situations. The cost of the program is $1500 and includes all housing, meals and activities for the two week program. There are financial need scholarships available. For more information visit our website at:

Emory & Henry Summer Scholars Institute and Leadership Program
This program is a one-week residential camp for academically enthusiastic and talented rising sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth graders. There is also a Leadership Program for tenth, eleventh and twelfth grade students. Classes are hands-on and vary in subject from robotics to video production. For more information visit: 

Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program
Since 1983, the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program has been committed to fostering the quantitative, verbal, and social development of gifted adolescents in grades 5 through 12. This program offers fast-paced, accelerated courses taught by college professors who possess a special interest in the education of gifted students. Ferrum College Summer Enrichment Camp
The camp offers exciting opportunities for academically motivated students ages 9-13. This is a nonprofit residential program located on the campus of Ferrum College. Tentative Enrichment Classes offered are: Cooking 101, Crime Scene Investigators, Leadership, French, Japanese, Drawing, Living 1800 Style, The Ferrum Challenge, Summer Theater, Hogwarts Academy, and much more.
Scholarships may be available through a private foundation that provides grants to school age children in Virginia.
