Health Benefits 2022-2023

Franklin County Schools offers four (4) options for group health insurance.  The plan year runs July 1 through June 30 each year.  You will find more information at the bottom of this page regarding options and rates.  Information regarding the dental and vision option is also provided. 

Who is Eligible?

Employees who are deemed eligible through the ACA Measurement Policy  (average 30 or more hours per week) are eligible for medical benefits. Regular part-time employees who work at least 25 hours per week are eligible for dental and vision benefits only.  

When Can I Make a Change?

Open Enrollment is offered annually in April with an effective date of July 1.  Once you make your benefit elections, federal tax laws say you cannot change your elections during the year unless you have a qualified family status change, as defined by the IRS. Eligible changes that may allow you to change some or all of your elections, sometimes called "life events" include:
  • birth, adoption or legal custody of a child
  • marriage, divorce, or legal separation
  • death of a spouse or child
  • change in a spouse's coverage due to change in employment or annual enrollment
  • gain or loss of dependent's eligibility
  • expiration of COBRA coverage
  • loss of eligibility due to reduction in hours
  • significant change in health care premium contributions

IMPORTANT!  Need to make changes outside open enrollment? 
If you experience one of the above qualifying events, you have 30 days to notify human resources and make any desired benefit changes.  You will be required to submit documentation of the life event.  Please email [email protected]

Wellness Incentive
Active full time employees enrolled in one of the group health care plans are eligible to receive a $20/month credit if the Annual Wellness Form is completed.  The credit also applies to any spouse covered on one of the group health care plans.  If both employee and covered spouse have turned in a completed form the employee will receive a $40/month credit.   
To continue this discount a wellness form needs to be turned in annually to HR between May 16 - May 15.  The Wellness Form is linked below.
