Public Notice: Title I, Part A Carryover Waiver
Franklin County Public Schools is seeking public comment regarding its intent to request a Title I, Part A carryover waiver from the Virginia Department of Education.
Federal requirements generally limit the amount of Title I, Part A funds that may be carried over to 15% of the division’s allocation. As of September 30, 2026, Franklin County Public Schools anticipates carrying over approximately 22% of its Title I, Part A funds. Therefore, the division intends to request a waiver of the 15% carryover limitation.
The carryover funds will be used to support Title I-funded positions that provide additional academic support and services to students in Title I schools. The waiver will allow the division to continue using these federal funds to support identified student needs and the goals of its Title I program.
Franklin County Public Schools welcomes comments from parents, staff, community members, and other interested stakeholders regarding the proposed carryover waiver and use of these funds.
All comments received will be reviewed and considered as part of the division’s Title I, Part A carryover waiver request.
