What is Title I ?
The purpose of Title I federal funding is to ensure that all students—regardless of socioeconomic background—have access to a fair, equitable, and high-quality education. This funding is designed to support schools in helping every child meet, at a minimum, proficiency on Virginia’s challenging academic standards and state assessments. Title I resources are targeted to provide additional academic support, enhance instructional practices, and strengthen family engagement in order to improve student outcomes.
In Franklin County, all ten elementary schools qualify as Title I schools based on their student population and identified needs. These schools use Title I funding to support a variety of initiatives, such as providing reading and math intervention, employing additional staff, offering tutoring opportunities, and implementing programs that support both students and families.
